Bundoran’s Main Beach proudly boasts a blue flag!

Located just a stone throw away from the 4* Great Northern Hotel.  With highly qualified lifeguards for your safekeeping enjoy time with your children splashing & jumping the waves.  Do not forget to pack your bucket and spade.

Tullan Strand Beach 

Located just around the back of the hotel. It is the ideal beach for a jog or leisurely stroll. Tullan Strand is a 5km long and very popular for surfers from all over the world. It is important for us to point out there are no lifeguards in attendance on this beach. 

If you would like to learn to surf while staying with us there are a number of surf schools here in Bundoran, most popular ones are Murf’s Surf School which is located up Tullan Strand, contact number: 0861514924 or  Bundoran Surf World located on main street contact number: 071 9841223.  First-time surfers can expect to learn the easiest and correct methods of standing up on a surfboard, basic surfing techniques, safe board handling in the water and general water safety awareness – essential knowledge and skill for taking your personal surfing to the next level.

Bundoran’s Outdoor Thrupenny Swimming Pool

The Thrupenny pool is a 3-minute walk from the hotel door and is an outdoor seawater swimming pool with a lovely sandy alcove which is very safe for children. There is a good shallow end and then if Mum or Dad would like a dip there is a deep end too.  Again, here we would like to point out the is no Lifeguard on duty here.

Westend Outdoor Swimming Pool 

This pool is known as the Nun’s Pool for its proximity to a convent that was in the town here. It is a little further away from the hotel past the Boat Quay in the West End of the town and is also. It is also a seawater pool surrounded by rock formations.

Rossnowlagh Beach 

Rossnowlagh is just a 15-minute drive from the Great Northern Hotel.  It’s an 8km long beach and it’s a great beach to swim at, also with lifeguards in attendance. You could also visit the Franciscan Monastery & it is beautiful grounds while here.

Mullaghmore Beach

Mullaghmore is a 15-minute drive from the hotel and is a very stunning beach with very calm sea waters most of the time for swimming. Lifeguards on duty July / August
